Sultan Hakim Apani'ai of Rau'ahu

Sultan Hakim

Sultan Hakim

Biography

Born on 26 May 1987 at Susuka, Choiseul Province, Solomon Islands, Sultan Hakim Nooruddin Apani'ai has been the Sultan (Ruler) of Rau'ahu (Ārai Peninsula) since 2018. He is the 5th ruler of the island including Cordoba (Tawaroto) and Istanbul (Āhu'i) — on the mainland — in the traditional reckoning.

By religion, Hakim was a Roman Catholic prior to his acceptance of Islam in year 2000 when he was 13 years old. In year 2005, at the age of 18, he embraced Islam Ahmadiyya.

Sultan Hakim was born as the son of Al-Kindi (Michael Iuhaniramo), a descendant of a Great warrior, Apani'ai Paina, through his grand son, Tahisimae Joseph (died 1950s). This branch of the Rau'ahu royal dynasty is named Hakimids Dynasty, after Hakim, the Sultan. The Rau'ahu Sultanate lapsed in early centuries (year ?) with the demise of the last ruling Sultan, his distant relative ancestor, Haimā'i Paina, during the battle of Hanuahansia. However, the monarchy was revived and replaced by Sultanate system as a cultural institution in 2018 when Hakim Nooruddin Apani'ai was enthroned in distressed outer circumstances. Sultan Hakim was enthroned on December 24, 2018 (Dhu al-Hijjah 1436 AH).

Apart from his ceremonial duties, the Sultan is also a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Solomon Islands, representing Small Mala'ita Jama'at (Muslim Community) since 2005. He has strongly promoted the appointment of a Sultan and firm establishment of Sultanate system as a cultural institution among his descendants, present and future.

Hakim as a Sultan

After he had been removed from his missionary work in late December 2018, Hakim left in anger and, after declaring himself as the first Sultan on 24th December 2018, established his own family dynasty, known as the Hakimids Dynasty. His 2005 dream of creating a future family dynasty has now come into shape; he initiated it by exercising authority, based on Islamic principles, over his own family. The dynasty is continuing up to date.
